![]() His other deck felt the same but was Jorah the Redeemer. He was using blue obviously but no counter spells. Any idea what his commander might have been? Notably a weakness I saw there was it was tapped out style of play. I can’t remember his commander but I say by turn 4 he was time stretching off of the one Teferi and putting enough counters on them on his extra turns that he went infinite, and he had about 15-20 walkers in play. I had forgotten his name but knew him from back when I played a decade ago, I knew he’s a good player, and I didn’t think he would net deck, so I’m like alright what he going to do here. I played my first IRL commander game in like a decade. It’s easy to tutor up a creature and even recur it but I don’t think it’s easy to pull one back of exile. Notably I don’t think these other cards count as casting the spell wheras the Archangel does, with with piper etc you only get the enters play triggers mot the when cast triggers as you do off the Angel. Mayael, Summoning Trap, then quicksilver amulet, elvish piper, etc. I know there are similarly themed cards, some of which were just in Shards or Zen. Tier 3 deck, among the most fun I had.įailing a non legendary commander house rule which I doubt many would play especially competitively what tricks could you use to “pseudo-commander” it for lack of a better term. ![]() But I pulled off the swing numerous times. This card stood out to me as one that supremely rewarded you if you could hit all you colors and it’s balanced because although it’s evasive and out of range of reds Instant burn and some of blacks “Terror”-like “non black” kill spells it’s relatively easy to dispatch especially in that format where Maelstrom Pulse, Oblivion Ring, Terminate, and Path to Exile not to mention Basilisk colored pingers were rampant. I don’t want to say the card got me back into magic but I bought a collection of almost complete sets of the entire Shards block and always loved the themes of multicolor and the direction they took it in in shards. ![]() In Shards of Alara block / Zendiakar block I would bring standard decks to FNM builT around it knowing I would lose just because if how fun it was scrambling for WUBRG, and tapping my blood thorn taunter to go at it with the Angel, then casting Emrakul Aeons Torn and Iona / Sphinx of the steel wind for free. Is there a format that uses non legendary commanders, because this card always felt legendary?Ĭrazily people use to like playing standard lol.
